This simple drawing of miter joints is from William W. Klenke's 1925 book, Joints and How They Are Made. If you want to know how something looks, "a picture is worth a thousand words." If you want to know how something is made, a drawing can be worth even more, being beautiful as well.
It is one more thing not taught in schools today.
