E.M. Forster, 1909

The Machine Stops written by E.M. Forster, 1909 is interesting reading for anyone using the internet. I am taking a day away from the wood shop and the making of sawdust to recover from a cold. In the meantime, my shop tip on the use of sawdust was published in the current issue of Fine Woodworking, January/February 2010, page 18. The tip involves using sawdust to wash your hands prior to soap and water. It is a great technique for removing greasy, oily substances from your hands prior to soap and water. I scrub my hands with sawdust to remove Danish oil after applying it to my boxes.
