A Master's Life Unfolds
Wharton Esherick: The Journey of a Creative Mind by his son-in-law Mansfield Bascom is a noteworthy contribution to the understanding of a great American artist. My only quibble is a small one. Knowing Esherick's work, I would have entitled it "Wharton Esherick: the Journey of Creative Hands," but sadly, that probably would have sold far fewer copies. Too few beyond the time of Anaxagoras seem to know that the hands are the source of human wisdom.
