the sloyd record

Some of my readers may be interested in the Sloyd Record, volumes 1-20 available from Google Books. It was edited by Gustaf Larsson from the Sloyd Teacher Training School in Boston, 39 North Bennet St. It provides insight into the early days of Sloyd training in the US and offers a bit of the philosophy behind it.

Great stuff. Do you know what was the last issue of the Sloyd Record? I'm a graduate of NBSS Preservation Carpentry and have been researching Sloyd to answer some of my own questions on history of the school and my own teaching (I teach a class in Historic Preservation at the BAC and workshops at NBSS and elsewhere). If you are up for some questions I'd like to correspond with you more about Sloyd.

    Take care,

  2. Bill, I do not know when the last issue was published. I may be in Boston this summer, so keep in touch.

You can email me through the address here on the blog.
