Teachers do not become teachers, (obviously) for the money, but because they want to make a difference in people's lives. Why do politicians not give them greater support? It may be that they think public schools are for other people's kids, not their own.
What the best and wisest parent wants for his own child, that must the community want for all of its children. Any other ideal for our schools is narrow and unlovely; acted upon, it destroys our democracy.— John Dewey, School and Societyhttps://www.cnn.com/2019/05/08/us/oregon-teachers-walkout/index.html
