This blog is dedicated to sharing the concept that our hands are essential to learning- that we engage the world and its wonders, sensing and creating primarily through the agency of our hands. We abandon our children to education in boredom and intellectual escapism by failing to engage their hands in learning and making.

Making wagons
Today we had long talks in the wood shop about listening. And the students suggested I can get their attention more effectively if I use a bell. So next week we will give it a test. We did get the wagons finished as you can see, and our van driver David was patient with our closing discussion and got included in the photo. Children need to take part in the solutions to work shop problems, and I am looking forward to the test. In fact, the bell is in my pocket and I'll test it with the first graders this afternoon as we make Christmas trees.
