This blog is dedicated to sharing the concept that our hands are essential to learning- that we engage the world and its wonders, sensing and creating primarily through the agency of our hands. We abandon our children to education in boredom and intellectual escapism by failing to engage their hands in learning and making.

Saturday in the woodshop
Saturdays are often a mixture of activities. I spent some time mulching leaves, some time cleaning the shop, some time taking photos for articles for American Woodworker, and some time installing pulls on the drawer fronts I made and have been installing over the last week. You can see what I've been up to in the three photos... On the subject of education, I listened to part of an interview with educator Parker Palmer and was sorry to arrive at my destination far too soon. Dr. Palmer's most popular book, The Courage to Teach, should be in every teacher's personal library.
