We will elect a new president today, and I have hopes that he will be accompanied into office by a vice-president who knows that dinosaurs and men DID NOT walk the earth at the same time.

Don't forget to vote.
Doug, I cannot agree more, we need a president and VP that will bring this country back together, not further divide the country.
ReplyDeleteMy wife has teleconferences two to three times a week with colleagues in Europe, Israel, India, South Africa. Their shared sentiments are that they don't want the "half-baked Alaskan." That corresponds with something I saw yesterday that said that if the rest of the world were to vote, Obama would win in a landslide.
I'll be honest, the only thing that has kept me from pulling out the rest of my hair is FiveThirtyEight.com which is showing Obama with a win percentage of 98.9%.
We will be able to relax soon. I could hardly believe that the US would elect george w. bush in 2004 following the theft of the election in 2000, and his abysmal performance as president.
ReplyDeleteSo, I will be nervous until McCain's concession speech. But I am heartened to see so many young people and minorities voting for the first time. That which is successful, we tend to repeat. If this election ushers in a generation of intense political involvement, we will have meaningful change. And it will be a well deserved sorry day for the Republican party.
Dear Doug:
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! The entire world is now breathing much better!
There's a new hope in the air.
It's a glorious morning...
ReplyDeleteIt is a glorious morning and a relief. The whole world seems excited to see renewed potential for American leadership. I know my friends overseas are nearly as excited as we are.
ReplyDeleteA Canadian friend from Ottawa wrote yesterday that many local bars were having Obama parties to watch the returns. Friends in France and England were also going to watch as things developed. This election got the attention of the world.
ReplyDeleteMario
It is nice that the world has been feeling a sense of loss about American leadership and seems ready to try again. Absence from intelligence makes the heart founder. The world would like the opportunity to love us again... or at least that's what I've heard from friends overseas.
ReplyDeleteDoug:
ReplyDeleteI think that american people want to live in peace with the world and deserves to be loved. Your Nation is great for many reasons.
Like many other Nations, there are big internal problems and conflicts. But if the men/women whose will conduct the internal and external policy for the next four years act with 'wisdom', we'll see a new world not so far.
