This blog is dedicated to sharing the concept that our hands are essential to learning- that we engage the world and its wonders, sensing and creating primarily through the agency of our hands. We abandon our children to education in boredom and intellectual escapism by failing to engage their hands in learning and making.

Oops, I no sooner say it than I am proven wrong. I was led to believe that there was no woodworking in the craft education department, but that was before I met Hannu. Hannu Salovalta teaches Kindergarten teachers to teach woodworking. When I found a wood shop I just had to butt in and introduce myself. And I was very glad I did. Also at the conference center, I met tomorrow's keynote speaker Ellen Dissanayake from the University of Washington at Seattle. Search for her as an author at Amazon.com and you will see why she was invited to speak.
