I've had it in the blog before. But thanks for reminding me. It is worth seeing more than once.

Hank, being a good humored, well-liked wood shop teacher is really difficult with large classes. There are too many accidents waiting to happen. And so the fault is in administrative thinking that if you can get 30 students in a history class you can get at least 25 to fit in a shop class. There is a difference between processing words and the safe processing of materials.

I could get downright curmudgeonly if put in a classroom of 25 7th graders, each holding a hammer or saw.Doug Stowehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13003845322415622289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34011427.post-63906890932047102232011-11-16T18:24:56.054-06:002011-11-16T18:24:56.054-06:00I have been a silent admirer of your blog for some...I have been a silent admirer of your blog for some time now.

My daughter sent me the following link to a TED video that I thought you would appreciate. ken_robinson_says_schools_kill_creativity.html

Regards,
StephenAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14930153830272852282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34011427.post-72755534518228000272011-11-15T19:41:50.883-06:002011-11-15T19:41:50.883-06:00The instructor matters though. When I went to school everyone hated wood shop, which was a reflection on the ability of the teacher to kill the real joy that could come from such a class.

Metal shop was not liked either, even though the instructor was different metal shop came after wood shop, and the bad taste of wood spilled over.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13246745842283799592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34011427.post-77418144978421990812011-11-15T17:25:05.362-06:002011-11-15T17:25:05.362-06:00JD, Salomon was an educational genius.
